Discover the world of mathematical research
The ETEAM is a team competition for high-school students. Its aim is to give them an initial insight into mathematical research.
Accompanied by a teacher or mathematician, the students have several months to research open mathematical problems, for which the authors do not necessarily have a definite solution.
After producing written contributions, the teams gather for a week to debate and discuss their solutions in front of a panel of mathematics researchers.
ETEAM 2026
This year’s tournament will be held from July 31th to August 6th at Lausanne, EPFL.
Support us
The ETEAM would not be possible without your support
Spread the word
If you know any high-school students who are interested in mathematics, encourage them to form a team and register
Volunteer
During the tournament or beforehand, we are always grateful for a helping hand
Become a team leader
If you are qualified in mathematics, computer science, or physics, coach a team of 4 to 6 high-school students
Become a member of the jury
If you’re a mathematician (researcher, teachers, graduate student), evaluate the teams’ solutions and presentations
Help create the problems
If you are qualified in mathematics, join the Scientific Organisation Committee to create open-ended problems which are accessible to high-school students
Donate
We rely on our sponsors to keep the ETEAM as affordable as possible for participants. Do not hesitate to donate, and to encourage others to do so as well
